    The Luverne baseball team hosted Marshall Thursday, April 13, at Redbird Field, dropping a 14-1 game to the Tigers. The Cardinals gave up 14 runs on 22 hits and five errors in the game. Luverne left eight runners on base with seven total hits.     Luverne High School hosted a track and field meet Monday, April 17, with participating teams from Hills-Beaver Creek, Pipestone and Marshall. The event was originally to take place in Marshall but was moved to Cardinal Field due to scheduling, weather and remaining snow on the ground in Marshall.     The Luverne trap shooting team shot its first two rounds of the season at the Rock County Sportsman’s Club.     The Luverne baseball team played its first game of the season Monday, April 10, at Redbird Field against the Fairmont Cardinals. LHS and Fairmont ended the regulation seven-inning game tied 3-3, and the game remained tied until Fairmont scored five runs in the 11th inning to beat Luverne 8-3.     Nine local youth swimmers from the Luverne branch of the Sioux Falls Swim Club qualified for the South Dakota Short Course Championships, and five swimmers competed in the recent season-ending state tournaments.
