Sharyl Elaine Remme, age 71, of Luverne, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Visitation was Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne.

Sharyl Elaine Remme was born December 21, 1952, to Harold Sr. and Lillian (Aanenson) Roemeling in Battle Creek, Michigan. Sharyl was baptized in December 1952 in Battle Creek and later received her confirmation on April 7, 1968, in Luverne, Minnesota. Sharyl lived in Kenneth, Minnesota, until she was about six years of age. Her family then moved to Luverne, Minnesota, where she lived the remainder of her life. Sharyl attended school through the second grade in Kenneth and then graduated from Luverne High School in 1971.
On September 18, 1971, Sharyl was united in marriage to David Remme at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Sharyl worked at the Good Samaritan Society - Mary Jane Brown nursing home from 1970 to 1976. From 1994 to 2000 she was employed with the Luverne Community Hospital which then became Sanford Luverne Hospital, and she continued working there until her retirement in April of 2014.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Sharyl passed away at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 17 days.
Sharyl was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed attending church at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was also very involved in the community as a hospice volunteer. She loved visiting hospice patients in their homes or nursing homes. In 2017 she was named the Hospice Volunteer of the Year.
In her spare time, Sharyl enjoyed traveling, which included 35 states and Hawaii. She loved growing flowers, decorating their home, genealogy, doing word search books, crafts, and of course shopping. Her favorite music was anything by Elvis Presley and ’60s Rock and Roll. She was especially fond of attending and watching her grandchildren’s activities.
Sharyl was very kind-hearted, always putting others before herself. Her favorite saying was, “one day at a time.” Sharyl lived a life of gratitude and just loved the simple things in life.
Sharyl is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Remme, of Luverne; children Eric (Charron) Remme of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Troy Remme of Worthington, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Addison Remme and Dawson Remme of Sioux Falls; siblings Harold Roemeling of Kennewick, Washington, Vicky Ykema of Kuna, Idaho, and Debra (Gary) Den Besten of Fort Collins, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Sr. and Lillian Roemeling; a brother, Terry Roemeling; and an infant brother, Loren Roemeling.
