Leo Brady

Leo Patrick Brady was born June 11, 1942, to James L. and Agnes (Reinhart) Brady in Nobles County, Minnesota. He was baptized and received first communion at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Fulda, Minnesota. He attended Fulda Catholic School and Fulda Public School until his father needed him to work with him on the farm. He farmed with his father and other farmers in the Fulda area for a number of years. He then moved to Rock County to work for John and Imogene Krogmann until 1970 when he started working for Arends Farms, Inc.

While working at Arends Farms, he met Linda Bryan, and they formed a lifetime love bond. The couple was united in marriage on June 22, 1974. Leo felt life wasn’t complete without children, and God’s eventual blessing of two adopted sons was a feeling beyond words. His boys eventually grew into loving and caring people with their dad showing them by example.

Leo loved farming, but was forced to leave when he sustained back and shoulder injuries in a farming accident. After recovering from his injuries, he accepted a position as a custodian for Luverne Public Schools until his retirement.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, Leo died at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne at the age of 82 years, eight months, and seven days.

Leo was always a kind, gentle, hardworking man with the ability to fix almost anything. He spent as much time as he could with his two sons, Scott and Jeff. When not at work, he unselfishly took care of his family. He enjoyed gardening and working on upkeep around the family home.

Leo is remembered by his wife, Linda; two sons and seven grandchildren: Scott (Amanda) Brady, and their children, Austin Capritta, Blake, Colton, and Logan Brady; and Jeffrey (Misty) Brady and their children, Ariana, Sophie, and Calvin Brady; a brother, John Brady; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, James and Agnes Brady; stepmother Gert Pluit-Brady; two brothers, Jim Brady and Patrick Brady; three sisters, Dorothy VanBrocklin, Elaine Stenzel, and Kathy Lien.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4-6:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne.
