Gail Bremer, age 75, of Hardwick, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, Minnesota.
In accordance with Gail’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

Gail Bremer was born on May 15, 1951, to Gerrit and JoAnn (White) Van Engelenhoven in Worthington, Minn. She was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. Gail attended Luverne Schools graduating in 1969. On Aug. 31, 1968, Gail was united in marriage to her soulmate, Dwight Ryan Bremer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minn. The couple was blessed with three children. The couple raised their family on an acreage near Hardwick, Minn., where Gail enjoyed taking care of all the animals and taking care of the flowers. She always worked to keep things nice, some say she was a perfectionist and in many things she was.
Gail furthered her education at Worthington Community College and earned a degree in nursing. Gail worked as a licensed practical nurse for eight years at the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone, Minn., and later worked at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne for almost 22 years. She truly loved her work and the people that she worked with and enjoyed caring for the residents. Over the past several years, Gail experienced declining health. On Friday, July 3, 2026, Gail passed away peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center at 75 years, 1 month and 19 days.
Gail was so kind, caring and nurturing. She loved all living things, people, pets (especially the kitties) plants, birds and animals on the acreage. Gail enjoyed all of the shopping trips with her daughters. Many memories were made on trips to Sioux Falls, S.D., and going out to eat for lunch.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dwight; children, Michele (Paul) Martens of Brandon, South Dakota and Lisa (Rick) Johannson of Rock Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren, Collin, Faith and Jonah; and her brother, Duane (Deb) Van Engelenhoven of Slayton, Minn. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cindy; her parents, Gerrit and JoAnn; and two sisters, Carol Wessels and Sheryl Schreck.
