The Redbirds baseball team fell 3-2 to the Milroy Irish on the road Sunday, May 17, giving up one run in the ninth inning for the loss.

Tied 2-2 after eight innings, Milroy mustered one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, stealing home to win the game.

The H-BC girls’ track and field team earned Red Rock Conference Championship honors placing first in the team competition Thursday, May 14, in Tyler.

The Patriots finished with 164 points topping second-place team Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton by 33 points.

The Luverne boys’ tennis team lost twice to finish team competition for this season.

Luverne fell 7-0 to Fairmont Tuesday, May 12, at home and lost 7-0 to Redwood Valley on the road in Section 3A team competition Monday, May 18.

LHS and H-BC trap shooting teams recorded their Week 4 totals for the spring season.

With one week left of shooting, Luverne sits in third place in team competition with 4,449 total targets hit in Class 2A.

The historic chapel at Maplewood Cemetery is falling apart, and local fundraising is needed to save it. 

Rock County and southwest Minnesota received a welcome inch or more of rain Sunday, but some isolated areas also had storm damage. 

The city of Beaver Creek will observe the 250th anniversary of America’s independence with decorative banners that will be placed on light poles in the community. 

The Rock County Master Gardeners hosted their annual plant sale and “Spring Fling” block party Saturday morning in the Atlas and Redeemed Remnants parking lot.
