The Eighth Annual Rock County Tractor Ride Friday included makes and models of all kinds of tractors, new and old — 70 in all.

The Luverne Cardinals football team took the wind out of Blue Earth’s sails on Aug. 28, beating the Buccaneers 40-6 at home.

The Hills-Beaver Creek football team extinguished the Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons 49-6 before they could mount an offensive momentum Thursday, Aug. 26, at home.

The Luverne girls’ volleyball team opened the 2025 season with a loss in Edgerton and a third-place tournament finish in Rochester in the past week.

LHS has a 4-2 record for the season with three games set for the next week.

The Luverne girls’ tennis team improved their season record to 5-1, beating Redwood Valley and River Valley in home meets this past week.

LHS blanked Redwood Valley with a 7-0 team win on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and outplayed River Valley 5-2 Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The Luverne cross country team had 12 runners place in the Top 10 Friday, Aug. 29, in Mountain Lake.

Luverne and 15 other regional schools participated in the Paul Metcalf Invitational at the Mountain Lake Golf Course.

The Hills-Beaver Creek High School volleyball team marched to a 2-0 start of the 2025 season, beating West Sioux 25-19 and 25-15 in the first game.

The Patriots beat West Lyon 27-25 and 30-28 Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the second game of the night on the road.

I was watching the sunset a few nights ago, and as the light faded, I was able to enjoy the tail end of the firefly season.
