Boys’ hockey extends perfect season, now 12-0

The Luverne boys’ hockey team hosted Fairmont Tuesday, Jan. 2, handing the Fairmont Cardinals a 9-0 loss.

LHS took command of the game from the puck drop with a goal by sophomore Maddux Domagala at 1:08 in the first period.

Cardinal wrestlers shine at Jesse James Invitational Jan.6

The Luverne varsity girls’ and boys’ wrestlers started the second half their season in Garretson Saturday, Jan. 6, for the Jesse James Invitational.

“Both teams wrestled well, and they had a good day all around,” Luverne head coach Jordan Kopp said.

Luverne gymnasts top Redwood, take fourth in Marshall Invitational

The Luverne gymnastics team beat Redwood Valley at home 130.825 to 130.700 Thursday, Jan. 4, and placed fourth in the Marshall Winterfest Invitational Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Cardinals’ competition in Windom was canceled due to winter weather Monday, Jan. 8.

Patriots beat Chargers 61-48 at home

The H-BC boys’ basketball team hosted Westbrook-Walnut Grove Friday, Jan. 5, beating the Chargers 61-48.

The two teams played a close first half with the Chargers taking a 30-29 lead into the break.

LHS boys best Windom, fall to Marshall

The Luverne boys’ basketball team beat Windom 91-82 at home Tuesday, Jan. 2, and fell to Marshall 85-64 on the road Friday, Jan. 5.

Luverne girls’ basketball team falls to Windom and Marshall

The LHS girls’ basketball team fell to two strong opponents in the past week.

The Cardinals lost to Windom at home 68-59 Tuesday, Jan. 2, and to Marshall on the road 58-37 Friday, Jan. 5.

H-BC girls' basketball falls to SWC 66-63

The H-BC girls’ basketball team hosted Southwest Minnesota Christian Thursday, Jan. 4, and fell to the E-gals 66-63.

The Luverne girls’ hockey team improved their season record to 10-5 with an 11-0 win over Fairmont Tuesday, Jan. 2, in Fairmont.

Looking back in history

An interesting winter we’ve been having until this week. Don’t get me wrong, but I can say I totally loved it. There was no snow to shovel and holiday travel and other events had no road conditions to worry about.
