The Luverne boys’ tennis players were unable to compete in their first two matches of the season, due to adverse spring weather conditions.

LHS was scheduled to travel to Worthington Tuesday, April 7. That game was rescheduled to Friday, April 24, in Worthington.

There’s a new kind of flower shop on Kniss Avenue in Luverne, but instead of roses customers can purchase a different kind of “bud.” 

The Flower Shop Dispensary, which opened its doors on March 12, sells all things cannabis — from marijuana buds and edibles to vapes and bongs. 

Students in Luverne’s Future Farmers of America chapter organized a tractor parade for elementary students on Friday, April 10, in front of the Luverne Elementary School to celebrate “Drive Your Tractor to School Day” ahead of the spring planting season.

The Hills-Beaver Creek School District hosted its inaugural Hall of Fame banquet Saturday, April 11, to honor six outstanding athletes, Coach Hugo Goehle and the 1990 state football team that made their marks in H-BC school sports history.

City utility staff Brian Remme and Braydon Ripka spent time Friday attaching new America 250 banners to city light poles in Luverne. The banners are among dozens of ways local communities are commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nation’s independence, observed all year.

Luverne boys’ and girls’ golf teams beat Worthington head-to-head at GreatLIFE Golf and Fitness Club in Worthington Thursday, April 9.

The LHS boys finished in first place with a team score of 167 in the 9-hole, par 35 meet.

The property values for 2026-27 are out for Rock County, and while the value of most of the area remains relatively steady, the townships of Springwater and Beaver Creek saw sharp decreases. 

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office will purchase 16 new handguns after receiving approval from county commissioners during their April 7 meeting. 

Sheriff Sorenson said the request is part of his effort to standardize the firearms issued to deputies.
