LHS girls’ hockey stuns Mankato East with 4-3 overtime win

The Luverne girls’ hockey team lost once and rallied for two wins this past week.

The Cardinals fell to Willmar 5-3 Tuesday, Dec. 5, at home, came from behind to beat Mankato East 4-3 Saturday, Dec. 9, at home and traveled to Austin Monday, Dec. 11, beating the Packers 10-0.

LHS wrestles strong at home meet and at Jackson tournament

The Luverne Cardinals wrestling team hosted the Luverne Triangular Tuesday, Dec. 5, losing to Redwood Valley 36-31 and falling to Jackson County Central 66-10.

Cardinal boys’ basketball team falls 77-65 to Hills-Beaver Creek at home

The Patriots and  Cardinals boys’ basketball teams played head-to-head  in Luverne Tuesday, Dec. 5.

H-BC came out on top beating LHS 77-65 in the Cardinal Gym.

“I thought for our first game of the year, our guys competed well,” H-BC head coach Chad Rauk said. 

Gymnasts place second at Snowflake Invite, fall to Trojans

The Luverne gymnastics team hosted Worthington Tuesday, Dec. 5, falling to the Trojans 139.2750 to 129.5000.

The Cardinals traveled to St. James for the Snowflake Invite Saturday, Dec. 9, placing second behind Redwood Valley.

Lady Pates beat Wolverines 60-42 for second win of season

The Patriot girls hosted Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey Tuesday, Dec. 2, beating the Wolverines 60-42 for their second win of the basketball season.

“The Wolverines are a scrappy bunch with a lot of good shooters,” head coach Dylan Gehrke said.

H-BC boys’ basketball team takes Coyotes 79-55 at home

The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ basketball team got its second win of the season, beating Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda 79-55 Thursday, Dec. 7, at home.

The Patriots pressured the Coyotes from the tipoff to the final shot.
