At the March 3 County Board meeting County Engineer Mark Sehr showed diagram of the new culvert illustrating what happens with an influx of water into the culvert during called “inlet control.” He said the pipe will take in only as much as the inlet will allow, and water flows out at below capacity. “The water will lose its energy and slow back down to normal flow range,” Sehr said. “That’s what happens when you’re in inlet control.”

County Board approves larger culvert for Judicial Ditch No. 2

A culvert in Judicial Ditch No. 2 will be replaced with a larger one, despite pushback from landowners downstream. 

That’s according to a March 3 Rock County Board decision based on engineers’ recommendations and a hydrologic study.
