Multiple rounds of torrential rain in Rock County and the tri-state area created significant flooding over the past week, wreaking havoc on properties and public infrastructure.

Work continues on the $1.3 million bridge replacement project on County Road 1 in Kanaranzi Township.
Completion is expected to take 12 to 14 weeks, with a finish in early 2024 expected.
Prahm Construction of Slayton began work in November and finished removing the 1961 wood pile bridge. Workers are now preparing the banks of Kanaranzi Creek for the new concrete bridge.

The Rock County History Center and Luverne Area Chamber hosted a “Wine and Pages” event Monday night, Nov. 27, as part of a series of holiday outreach events to draw visitors into the museum. Nearly 600 people visited Santa and Mrs. Claus at the train depot in Luverne Sunday, and roughly 300 cars drove through the lighted park following the 7 p.m. fireworks.

Rock County Commissioners approved a one-time allocation of $20,000 for the Rock County Agricultural Society to complete three projects in time for the 2024 Rock County Fair.
The county annually appropriates $20,000 for the four-day event in late July.

Workers broke ground Monday morning on the site of a future 73-foot-tall nutcracker that will be “the world’s tallest nutcracker” on South Highway 75 in Luverne.
