Luverne Junior Legion falls to Jackson 7-3

The Luverne Junior Legion baseball team hosted Jackson in the first game of a Junior/Senior Legion doubleheader at Redbird Field on June 14. 
Luverne players came up short in the game, falling to their guests 7-3. 
The game was tied 1-1 after two innings before Jackson scored three runs in the top of the third to open a lead. 
After scoring an additional run the following inning, Jackson led 5-1 and was in command of the game. 
Luverne scored one additional run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, but it would not be enough. 
Layke Miller led the offense for Luverne. He was two for three at the plate and scored two of the team’s three runs. One of his hits was a double in the second inning. 
Alex Schlosser also had two hits in the game. Blaik Bork scored the third Luverne run. 
Elliot Domagala pitched the first three innings for Luverne. He gave up four runs and struck out five. 
Schlosser relieved Domagala on the mound for the final four innings. He struck out three Jackson batters and gave up three runs. 
Luverne was scheduled to play in Lamberton June 20 and host Pipestone June 22. 
Those games will be reported in a future edition of the Star Herald along with a scheduled game in Lamberton tonight (Thursday), a weekend tournament in New Ulm and a game scheduled to be hosted at Redbird Field on Monday against Marshall.
