Three selected for Girls, Boys State

Three Luverne High School juniors are this year’s representatives to the upcoming American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and American Legion Boys State events.
Selected for participation are Grace Ingebretsen, Isabella Lanoue and Parker Carbonneau.
Grace is the daughter of Chris and Rebecca Ingebretsen of Luverne and is sponsored by the Hardwick Auxiliary.
Isabella, daughter of Tom and Sara Lanoue of Luverne, is sponsored by the Luverne Auxiliary.
Parker, son of Mike and Molly Carbonneau of Luverne, is sponsored by the Luverne Legion.
The Girls and Boys State events take place June 12-18.
Girls State takes place at Bethel University in St. Paul.
The purpose of Girls State is to provide Americanism and good citizen training along with informing participants about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of government practiced in a democratic society.
Boys State takes place at St. John’s University in Collegeville.
Boys State is a practical learning experience, which focuses on county and state government levels through mock exercises that promote leadership development.
