Lions Club tests children's eyes

Lead Summary

During Mother’s Day Week the Luverne Lions Club was at Little Lambs Preschool and Luverne Elementary School testing children for eye diseases through “Lions KidSight USA Foundation,” which works to test children’s eyes early to preclude major disease later in life. Pictured are (from left) Bill Martin, Gordon Mulder, Larry Harms, Glenda Schomacker and Lois Mulder. Using special camera that detects deformities in the cornea surface, the group saw 36 preschoolers and 486 kindergarten through fifth-graders. Funding for the effort comes from Lions District 5M3 which is dedicated to Lions International causes of eyesight and diabetes.
