MINUTES OF REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OF

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2184,

ROCK COUNTY, LUVERNE, MINNESOTA

A regular meeting of the Board of Education, ISD #2184, was held in the

District Office on October 26, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.

The following members were present: Michael DeBates, Eric Hartman, Tim Jarchow, Zach Nolz, Randy Sasker, and David Wrigg. Absent: Ryan DeBates.

Also present: Craig Oftedahl, Tyler Reisch, Ryan Johnson, Jason Phelps, Stacy

Gillette, Becky Rahm, and Mavis Fodness - Rock County Star Herald.

Chairperson Tim Jarchow opened the meeting with the Pledge of

Allegiance. Motion made by Eric Hartman, second by Michael DeBates, to approve

the agenda as presented. Motion unanimously carried.

Administrative reports were given.

Motion made by David Wrigg, second by Eric Hartman, to approve the September 28, 2023, School Board meeting minutes as presented. Motion unanimously carried.

There were no donations received in October.

Tyler Reisch, Business Manager, reviewed the bills with the school board members. Motion made by Eric Hartman, second by Zach Nolz, to approve payment of the district and student activity bills in the amount of $1,535,416.27, and payroll in the amount of $1,030,026.53 for a total of $2,565,442.80. Motion unanimously carried.

Motion made by David Wrigg, second by Zach Nolz, to receive the Student Activity Report showing the balances as of September 30, 2023. Motion unanimously carried.

Motion made by Zach Nolz, second by Eric Hartman, to approve the following:

RESOLUTION OF GOVERNING BOARD SUPPORTING

FORM A APPLICATION TO MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL

LEAGUE FOUNDATION

WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League Foundation was formed

to provide support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and

fine arts;

WHEREAS, the Governing Board of Luverne Public Schools recognizes

the value of student participation in extracurricular activities; and

WHEREAS, the MSHSL Foundation is offering grants and funding to assist

schools in recognizing, promoting and funding extracurricular participation by high

school students in athletic and fine arts programs.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Board of Luverne Public

Schools supports the school’s application to the Minnesota State High School League

Foundation for a FORM A grant to offset student activity fees.

Motion unanimously carried.

Superintendent Oftedahl reviewed Lease No 67001 for ADA Ramp and Landscaping – MN Department of Transportation. This is for the area near the tennis courts.

This is a ten year lease. Motion made by Randy Sasker, second by David Wrigg,

to approve the lease as presented. Motion unanimously carried.

  Motion made by David Wrigg, second by Eric Hartman, to accept the

resignation of Nicole Schelhaas, Paraprofessional, effective October 24,

2023. Motion unanimously carried.

Motion made by Michael DeBates, second by Randy Sasker, to approve

the hiring of Jana Zeutenhorst as part-time Community Education Para-

professional effective October 30, 2023. Motion unanimously carried.

Motion made by Eric Hartman, second by Zach Nolz, to approve the hiring of

Vance Brower as Paraprofessional effective October 26, 2023. Motion

unanimously carried.

Committee reports were given.

The upcoming meeting dates were reviewed. Motion made by Zach Nolz, second by Michael DeBates, to adjourn the meeting. Motion unanimously carried.
