The Luverne Cardinals volleyball team dropped three games to Adrian-Ellsworth in Ellsworth Thursday, Sept. 14, and traveled to Jackson Saturday, Sept. 16, winning one game and losing three.
“Our record for the season is now 6-9,” head coach Sarah DeBeer said.
“We have a big conference week coming up hosting Redwood and Pipestone this week.”

The H-BC volleyball team traveled to Westbrook Walnut Grove Tuesday, Sept. 12, and lost to the Chargers 3-1. The Patriots beat Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 3-1 on the road Thursday, Sept. 14.
The 3-2 Patriots were scheduled to travel to Red Rock Central Tuesday, Sept. 19, and they’ll take on Edgerton Friday, Sept. 22, on the road.

The Luverne Cardinals’ boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams traveled to Rochester for the Mayo Invitational Thursday, Sept. 14.
The Luverne boys’ varsity 5,000 meters team placed eighth, behind Wayzata in first place, then Stillwater Area, Rosemount, Winona, Cotter, Onalaska, and Owatonna in seventh.
The LHS girls’ varsity 5,000 meters team also placed eighth in the meet.

The Luverne girls’ tennis team beat Worthington 7-0 Tuesday, Sept. 12, defeated Pipestone 6-1 Thursday, Sept. 14, and fell to Sioux Falls Lincoln 6-3 Monday, Sept. 18.

The H-BC Patriots secured their third team win of the season against Cedar Mountain at home Friday, Sept. 15, with a 40-6 victory.

The Luverne Cardinals football team hosted Sibley East Friday, Sept. 15, beating the Wolverines 35-0.
“It was nice to get a solid win and shutout at home,” said head coach Todd Oye.
“We have played well at times this year, but this was the first game we played well from start to finish.”

The Luverne football team traveled to Jordan losing 49-7 to the Hubmen Friday, Sept. 9.
“Jordan is a very good team that moved down from 4A to 3A this year,” head coach Todd Oye said.
“With that being said, we need to play well against the big schools in our class to be competitive, and we did not do that.”
