Luverne wrestlers go 0-4

The Luverne Cardinals wrestling team went 0-4 this week with losses to Fairmont-Martin County West (81-0) and Windom-Mountain Lake (51-24) on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
They then dropped a pair of matches to Worthington (61-16) and Minneota (78-6) on Thursday, Jan. 28.
 
Windom-Mountain Lake 51, Luverne 24
Riley Cowell defeated Thavien Xayachak by fall in the 120-pound division.
Jaden Reisch won by fall in the 160-pound division to pick up the second victory in the match for the Cardinals.
 
Worthington 61, LHS 16
The Cardinals fell to the Trojans on Thursday, Jan. 28, 61-16.
Cowell got the Cardinals’ points by defeating Oscar Galvez by decision (12-4) in the 113-pound division.
In the 160-pound division, it was Reisch winning by fall over Mason Schutz.
Ayden Bonnett won by fall over Logan Barber in the 195-pound division.
 
Minneota 78, LHS 6
Cowell was the lone Cardinal to pick up a win for Luverne.
The senior improved to 4-1 on the season with a win by fall over Petyon Guilland in the 120-pound division.
The Cardinals will look to get back on the winning side of things on Thursday, Feb. 4, when they hit the road to take on Windom Area.
