Ver Steeg reaches 1,000
The Cardinals improved to 3-1 with their 56-46 victory over St. James on Tuesday.
Junior Brooklynn Ver Steeg led the Cardinals with 18 points, and during the game she reached her 1,000-point milestone.
“Scoring 1,000 points is a great accomplishment,” Luverne head coach TJ Newgard said. “Especially for someone who is a team-first person like Brooke. Reaching 1,000 points so early in her junior year gives her a legitimate chance to become the all-time leading scorer by the time she graduates.”
Ver Steeg added six rebounds and seven steals to her stat line.
Averill Sehr reached double figures with 10 points. Sehr recorded four steals.
Elizabeth Wagner scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds and five steals.
Elise Ferrell added nine points.

Marshall 70, LHS 42
The sixth-ranked Tigers proved to be too much for the Cardinals on Friday, Jan. 29.
The two Big South Conference foes battled back and forth in the opening moments before the Tigers pulled away from the Cardinals en route to a 70-42 victory.
Ver Steeg finished the game with a team-leading 17 points.
Elizabeth Wagner reached double figures with 10 points.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 2, when they hit the road to take on Redwood Valley.
