Cardinals go 1-1 in Luverne Triangular

The Luverne Cardinals volleyball team hosted a triangular on Thursday, Sept 1, when they lost to West Lyon and won their contest with Murray County Central.
Luverne has three wins and one loss for the season. The Cardinals were scheduled to host Marshall Tuesday, Sept. 6, and Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday, Sept 8. 
 
West Lyon 2, LHS 0
Luverne lost the first game with West Lyon 19-25 and the second one 24-26.
The Cardinals fell behind early in Game 1 but were able to close the gap with a couple of service runs. Luverne was unable to ever take the lead. 
The Cardinals came out ready to fight in Game 2, and points went back and forth, but Luverne fell behind and was unable to push past West Lyon in the close contest.  
 
LHS 2, MCC 0
The Cardinals regrouped and came out swinging against MCC.
Luverne held the lead for the first 15 points but fell behind until making some adjustments to win 27-25.
Game two versus MCC also went to Luverne, which held the lead through 16 points and then fought back to take the win 25-23.
Coach Sarah DeBeer said the LHS volleyball team never gave up and continued to work hard both on serves and serve receives. No statistics were collected at the triangular.
