The Hills-Beaver Creek High School has some new exercise equipment for the weight room in the high school gymnasium. The school received many donated aluminum cans, and the money received from the sale of the cans was used to purchase the new equipment.
“The cans bring in some decent money for us each year that we use to buy equipment for our weight room,” Hills-Beaver Creek’s, Rex Metzger said.
This is the third year the school has used the aluminum cans to buy equipment, and it received a total of $1,500 this year.
The money was used to purchase two weighted ropes, one set of dumbbells that range from 10 to 40 pounds, another bench and material to make plywood boxes.
“By donating the cans we get to keep adding to our weight room, and this really benefits our athletic programs,” said Metzger.
The next thing he would like to do is lay the black rubber mats across the whole floor so there is no cement showing.
The public can drop off cans at the old high school to be donated to the school in order to support future purchases.
