Senior honored

Dillon John, an Adrian High School senior, has been named the Region 3A Triple A Award winner.

A member of the National Honor Society, John has been involved in small musical groups, he is a drum major and has received superior ratings in Minnesota State High School League solo and ensemble contests. He has participated in the State Speech Contest and has filled key roles for Adrian’s successful One-Act Plays.

John also has lettered for Adrian’s football and track programs.

The Minnesota Class A Triple A Award winner will be named at the state basketball tournament March 15.

Slater inks

Adrian High School senior Nicole Slater has signed a Letter of Intent to extend her athletic career at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Slater will participate in the cross country and track and field programs at Dordt.

She is the daughter of Rushmore’s Gary and Teresa Slater.

Free-throw champs

Ten champions were crowned in their age groups during the local level of the Knights of Columbus Free-Throw Championship staged in Luverne Jan. 19.

Elise Ferrell (age 9), Kristin Rud (10), Ainslie Robinson (11) and Joci Oye (13) won the girls’ titles.

Collin Schoeneman (9), Riley Anderson (10), Payton Bork (11), Isaiah Bartels (12), Derek Lundgren (13) and Mark Robinson (14) claimed the boys’ crowns.

Regional competition is set for Sunday in Adrian with the state event set for March 29 in St. Cloud.
