•For the second consecutive year, Hills-Beaver Creek’s One-Act Play crew topped the District 8 competition with their presentation of “The Lesson.” 

•Hills-Beaver Creek’s High School Band is $12,000 closer to Florida. Another $8,000 is needed for the June 4-11 trip. The band will participate in the International Honor Musicians Society’s annual awards clinic at Sarasota, Fla.

•An expert from Sioux Falls was down to the Edmunds Company one day last week and succeeded in getting the safe open. The dials had been knocked off by thieves some time ago.

•The Brandt Engineering Co. of Sioux Falls made short work of moving the Otto Nelson grain elevator from its site on the Illinois Central right-of-way to its present location at Lester last week.

•New has been so scarce the past week that we have come to the conclusion most of the people have been enjoying the fireside instead of braving the cold blasts. This office endeavored to create a little stir among the natives by smashing two of the big windows facing the street, but shucks, who broke them and how it was done isn’t worth mentioning.
