HBCS group will meet at 7:30 Monday, Oct. 28, at the American Legion in Hills to discuss December activities.

Hollyhoppers Square Dance Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the A.H. Brown School in Pipestone. Elaine Peacock will call this dance.

Beaver Creek Township will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the township hall.

Parents with Special Needs Children Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. the second Thursday each month in the Upper Room at the United Methodist Church, 109 N. Freeman Ave., Luverne. This is a nondenominational support group.

Al-Anon meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Buffalo Ridge Meeting Room (lower level) at the Sanford Medical Center in Luverne. Call Stephanie at 449-1246.

Weight Watchers meets every Monday in First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. Weigh-in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Call 283-2576 with questions.

Luverne Tops 698 meets for weigh-in at 8 a.m. every Thursday in the Pizza Ranch. The meeting follows at 8:45 a.m. Call 855-2368.

 

Donate to the gym mural

Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary and High School parent-teacher conferences will be from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Thursday, Nov. 7.

 

Volunteer for book fair 

Volunteers are needed to help students enjoy the Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary School’s book fair from Tuesday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 8.

Trunk ‘n Treat events scheduled

Luverne Merchants will offer a trunk ’n treat event from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, on Main Street from the Palace Theatre to Loopy’s.

Steen Reformed Church will host a trunk ’n treat event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Hot dogs, chips and juice will be served.

•Join in the excitement at American Reformed Church, Luverne, for its trunk ’n treat event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the north parking lot of the church.

 

SHARE and ATLAS announce ‘One Warm Coat Project’

SHARE and ATLAS are partnering to collect new and/or clean, reusable coats, snowpants and winter gear to distribute to those who need the items. Children’s and youth coats are especially needed. Bring clean, reusable donations to ATLAS for Life at 201 E. Main Street, 2nd Floor (elevator available), in Luverne from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Nov. 15, or bring coats to Luverne Elementary School through Oct. 31. ARC hosts Gospel Jubilee Oct. 27

The American Reformed Church, Luverne, will host a Gospel Jubilee Sunday, Oct. 27. The Waldner Messangers, Queena Getskow and the Sandbulte Ladies perform at 3 p.m., followed by a supper at 5 p.m., and the Heartsong Ministries will perform from 6 to 7:15 p.m. A freewill offering will be received for each session, and the meal is $5 per person. St. Catherine’s Fall Fest Nov. 2

St. Catherine Church will host its “new” Fall Fest on Saturday, Nov. 2. Youth activities and refreshments will be available at St. Catherine School from 5 to 9 p.m. Adult events begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at Blue Mound Banquet Center, followed by a meal at 6:30 and evening events. Beautiful Life Women’s Conferences invites you to “Espresso Yourself” at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at American Reformed Church in Luverne. Three women present a program on exploring life’s purpose. Historical Society hosts annual banquet Nov. 5

Rock County Historical Society will host its annual banquet Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Blue Mound Banquet Center in Luverne. The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. banquet. 

This year’s program features genealogy and learning practical tips about family history. The presenter is Dr. Paul Rud. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Rock County Museum and the Luverne Area Chamber. Call (507) 283-4061 for reservations.

 

Festival of Trees 

set-up Nov. 12-16

Area families, businesses and organizations are encouraged to set up a theme tree for the Festival of Trees at the Carnegie Cultural Center in Luverne.

Times for tree set-up are from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 15, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Dates for removal are Dec. 26-28. A $10 registration fee is required. A $50 grand prize will be awarded to the tree that earns the People’s Choice Award.

Story Hour, Laptime dates announced

Join the Rock County Community Library, Luverne, for stories, songs, crafts and more. 

•Story Hour for children ages 4-5 will meet at 10 a.m. each Thursday through Nov 14. Call 449-5040 to register your child.

•Laptime for children ages 0-3 with an adult will meet at 10:30 a.m. each Friday through Nov. 15. No registration is necessary.
