SHARE and ATLAS announce ‘One Warm Coat Project’

SHARE and ATLAS are partnering to collect new and/or clean, reusable coats, snowpants and winter gear to distribute to those who need the items. Children’s and youth coats are especially needed. Bring clean, reusable donations to ATLAS for Life at 201 E. Main Street, 2nd Floor (elevator available), in Luverne from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Nov. 15, or bring coats to Luverne Elementary School through Oct. 31. Join Cub Scouts for Halloween fun Oct. 22

Boys ages 7-11 can join Cub Scout Pack 280 for some Halloween fun starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the basement of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Decorate a pumpkin and participate in other Halloween-themed activities and learn more about what the Cub Scouts has to offer.

ARC hosts Gospel Jubilee Oct. 27

The American Reformed Church, Luverne, will host a Gospel Jubilee Sunday, Oct. 27. The Waldner Messengers, Queena Getskow and the Sandbulte Ladies perform at 3 p.m., followed by a supper at 5 p.m., and the Heartsong Ministries will perform from 6 to 7:15 p.m. A freewill offering will be received for each session, and the meal is $5 per person. Proceeds from the meal benefit H.I.M.


Trunk ‘n Treat at American Reformed Oct. 31

Join in the excitement at American Reformed Church, Luverne, for its Trunk ‘n Treat event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the north parking lot. Free to everyone, the event will provide fun and safe entertainment.


Set-up for Festival of Trees at Carnegie Nov. 12-16

Area families, businesses and organizations are encouraged to set up a theme tree for the Festival of Trees at the Carnegie Cultural Center in Luverne.

Times for tree set-up are from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 15, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Dates for removal are Dec. 26-28. A $10 registration fee is required. A $50 grand prize will be awarded to the tree that earns the People’s Choice Award.

Jeff Hartquist will help you write your life history at Filling In Your Dash Oct. 28. When there is a funeral, family members sometimes struggle to remember details the way you do. Fee is $5.

A variety of activities will take place in the new Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom at Nature Explore Fun Class on Oct. 28. For ages birth to 5 years. Family fee is $7. Dress for indoor and outdoor activities.

Basketball for ages K-2 will be for four Saturdays beginning Nov. 2. Fee is $17.

Grocery Store Tour on Nov. 4 will help make your trips to the grocery store easy and fun. Learn things that will help you with dietary challenges or just in understanding labels. Marg Kuiper from Sanford will guide an afternoon or evening tour. Fee is $5.

Join early childhood teachers at ECFE classes where there is something for everyone (birth to 5). Classes are designed to strengthen families by helping provide the best possible environment for their child's learning and growth.

All 3-year-old children living in Minnesota will do an Early Childhood Screening as they near age 4. If your child is nearly 4 years old or already 4 and has not been screened, call 283-4724 to arrange an appointment.


Pioneer Clubs meet at American Reformed Church

Pioneer Clubs meet weekly from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evenings for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Story Hour, Laptime dates announced

Join the Rock County Community Library, Luverne, for stories, songs, crafts and more.

•Story Hour for children ages 4-5 will meet at 10 a.m. each Thursday through Nov 14. Call 449-5040 to register your child.

•Laptime for children ages 0-3 with an adult will meet at 10:30 a.m. each Friday through Nov. 15. No registration is necessary.

The book of Acts is being studied. StoryHour is available for children 2 years to kindergarten, and nursery care is available for 0 to 2-year-old children.

FamilyU has openings

Children in grades K-5 in the Luverne School District may enroll in FamilyU for after-school care. Snacks, games and activities, in and outdoor play and help with homework are provided. Priority is given to full-time students, but part-time openings may be available. Call 283-4724.
