H-BC girls lose lead, game to EHS

The Hills-Beaver Creek girls let a halftime lead slip away when they entertained Ellsworth for a Red Rock Conference game Thursday in Hills.

H-BC, which dropped a 53-48 decision to the Panthers when the teams squared off in Ellsworth Dec. 15, fell behind early in Thursday’s rematch.

The Patriots bounced back to put together a 12-1 run late in the first half to sport a 25-21 advantage at the intermission.

Ellsworth turned things around in the second half by outscoring H-BC 39-29 to pull out 60-54 victory.

The Panthers canned six three-point shots in the decisive second half.

“They heated up a little more and we couldn’t capitalize on a few chances when we needed to,” said H-BC coach Jason Blosmo.

Paige Leuthold netted 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for H-BC, which received a 16-point, six-rebounds effort from Meghan Leuthold.

Haley Van Wyhe led the Patriots with four assists.
