Sandbulte's late field goal clinches win for H-BC

A late field goal by senior Jeff Sandbulte gave the Hills-Beaver Creek boys a 66-64 basketball victory Thursday in Westbrook.

With the game tied at 64 in the final minute, Sandbulte collected a rebound when Westbrook-Walnut Grove missed a free throw.

Sandbulte drove the length of the floor and hit a 10-foot jump shot with 1.6 seconds remaining to give the Patriots a two-point win.

The Chargers led 35-33 after 18 minutes of play before H-BC used a 33-29 scoring advantage in the second half to snap a three-game losing skid.

Sandbulte (23 points and five rebounds) and Dylan Gehrke (17 points) paced H-BC offensively.

Jon Gallagher pulled down 10 rebounds for the winners, while Justin Kerkhove-Brandt and Carey Taubert pitched in five rebounds each.
