Patriot girls snap losing skid

The Hills-Beaver Creek girls’ basketball team snapped a seven-game losing skid Monday in Hills.

Entertaining Lincoln HI in a non-conference clash, the Patriots played their way to a modest 25-21 lead in the game’s first half.

H-BC put everything together in the second half, outscoring the Rebels 33-14 to clinch a 58-35 victory.

It was H-BC’s first win since Dec. 8.

“We took care of the ball better and had more positive possessions in the second half,” explained H-BC’s coach Jason Blosmo.

“Our pressure created problems for them in the first half and the second half. The difference was we didn’t convert on the turnovers we created in the first half. In the second half, we did.”

Paige Leuthold pumped in a team-high 18 points for the Patriots.

Haley Van Wyhe netted 12 points and passed for five assists, while Taylor Wingert registered a double-double by scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Hattie Van Wyhe collected 12 rebounds for the 5-7 Patriots, who play at Edgerton Public School Thursday.
