SCC honors league champs

Seven Hills-Beaver Creek High School football players received postseason awards from the Southern Confederacy Conference this week. Seven members of the Hills-Beaver Creek High School football team received postseason honors from Southern Confederacy Conference officials Monday.

Five Patriots were selected to the 2012 All-SCC Western Division Football Team and two more Patriot players received honorable mention from the league’s coaches.

As Western Division champions, H-BC led all teams by placing five players on the 20-player all-conference roster.

Seniors Dalton Bass, Jeff Sandbulte and Tate Bork and juniors Jeff Nelson and Dylan Gehrke made the all-league team for H-BC.

Along with his all-conference selection, Bass was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year.

A total of 14 players received honorable mention from league officials, including H-BC seniors Billy Horsman and Zach Wagenaar.

H-BC mentor Rex Metzger is the league’s Coach of the Year.

Edgerton-Ellsworth and Mountain Lake Area received four all-conference selections each.

Seniors Blake Jouwstra, Isaac Heard and Derek Voge and junior Austin Mertens made the all-conference squad for E-E.

Mertens is the league’s Lineman of the Year, and Voge the Defensive Player of the Year.

Senior Ryan Klassen and juniors Josh Grev, Carter Kirk and Andrew Hempeck grace the all-league list from MLA.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove landed three all-conference selections.

Seniors Dana Madson and Andrew Merrick and junior Levi Bunting represent the Chargers on the roster.

Fulda seniors Zachary Holt and Trevor Ruesch, Southwest United senior Kurt Schmitz and Renville County West senior Mitch Tremel round out the all-league team.

Other honorable mention selections include E-E seniors Derek Claar and Austin Lafollette, MLA senior Josiah Stoesz and junior Vince Johnson, W-WG senior Aaron Hass and junior Shane Buchman, Fulda seniors Todd Peterson and John Getting, SWU seniors Erik Jass and Justin Jass, and RCW senior Jason Mertens and freshman Hayden Johnson.
