An open house bridal shower for Kourtney Kramer (bride-to-be of Kale Leuthold) will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the home of Diane Leuthold, 144 50th Ave., Hills.
Meetings
Rock County People First will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, March 1, at the Pizza Ranch in Luverne.
Beaver Creek Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the township hall.
Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the home of Teresa Kramer.
Hollyhoppers Square Dance Club will meet at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Brown School, Pipestone. Lelia Guilbert will call this dance.
Rock County VFW Post 2757 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the lower level of the Rock County Veterans Memorial Building. The meeting will follow a 6:45 social time when members will meet Rock County Veterans Services Officer Dave Haugom.
Free H1N1 vaccine available
Nobles Rock Community Health is now offering the H1N1 vaccine free of charge to the general public.
To make an appointment in the Luverne office, call 507-283-5066, ext. 3025. The Luverne office is located in the Rock County Human Services Building along N. Blue Mound Avenue.
The Worthington office at 315 10th Street will offer the vaccine from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. No appointment is necessary and clients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. That phone number is 507-295-5280.
St. Patrick’s Day 5K run
The Hills-Beaver Creek Community Education organization is sponsoring a 5K run at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 13. The run begins at the Around the Clock Fitness and Tanning Center. Participants should pre-register by March 1, if they want a T-shirt. Otherwise they can register the day of the event. H-BC public meeting for bond initiative
A public meeting presenting information about the March 9 bond vote will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in the Hills-Beaver Creek High School gym in Hills.
Wax museum at elementary school
Fourth-grade students at Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary School are offering a living wax museum from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, in the elementary school gym in Beaver Creek. Guests are invited to drop loose change into jars to hear a speech about a famous person. The class has 25 students participating in the event. All donations are given to Cure Kids Cancer in Sioux Falls.

Rock County Corn and Soybean Growers banquet rescheduled
The Rock County Corn and Soybean Growers banquet has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 1, at Luverne Elementary Commons. Speaker will be Warren Formo with Minnesota Agriculture Water Resource Coalition.
World Day of Prayer March 5
World Day of Prayer will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the American Reformed Church. The focus of this year’s day of prayer is Cameroon, West Africa. Fellowship and refreshments will be after the prayer. Childcare will also be available during service.
Home and Living show set for March 13
Luverne Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Home and Living Show from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, in the elementary commons and gym at Luverne Public School. Vendors will show the latest in building, remodeling, gardening and health ideas, and speakers will be on hand to present a variety of topics. Admission is free.
