Tina Sandbulte

Tina Kate Sandbulte, 17, Garretson, S.D., died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. The Rev. David Sikkema officiated. Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.

Tina Sandbulte was born Sept. 30, 1992, to Gerrit and Norinda (Teunissen) Sandbulte in Sioux Falls, S.D. She grew up in Garretson and Beaver Creek. She was baptized at the American Reformed Church in Luverne and made her profession of faith as a teenager. She was a junior at Garretson High School, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball, softball and volleyball. She also was a student aid for second-graders. She worked part time at Dragonland Daycare in Garretson and milked cows with her dad on the farm.

Miss Sandbulte was a member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne, where she was active with the Senior Reformed Church Youth Fellowship. She recently went on a mission trip to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and was practicing for the church play, “Angel at McDonald’s.” She enjoyed meeting new people, spending time with friends, riding dirt bikes, going to Sandbulte reunions at Lake Shetek and making others laugh. She also was a Minnesota Twins fan.

Survivors include her parents, Norinda Sandbulte, Garretson, and Gerrit Sandbulte, Beaver Creek; two brothers, Curtis (Jessie) Sandbulte and their son Ashton and Matthew Sandbulte and his friend Justine Leslie, all of Luverne, and a sister, Sara Sandbulte, Garretson; her grandparents, Gerrit (Eunice) Teunissen, Rock Valley, Iowa, and Janice Sandbulte, Luverne; aunts and uncles Greg (Glenda) Teunissen, Centennial, Colo., Harlow (Brenda) Teunissen, Tea, S.D., Galen (Lauree) Teunissen, Doug (Erin) Jacobsma and Dave (Nyla) Sandbulte, all of Luverne, Sue (Rob) Rogers, Elgin, Texas, Donn (Sue) Sandbulte and Ned (Shelly) Sandbulte, all of Luverne, Norm (Tammy) Sandbulte, Bakersfield, Calif., Paul (Ling) Sandbulte and Machelle (fiancé Kevin Frazier) Sandbulte, all of Luverne, and many cousins and friends.

Miss Sandbulte was preceded in death by her infant brother, Chad Sandbulte, her grandfather, Jim Sandbulte, and a cousin, James Sandbulte.

Hartquist Funeral Home — Engebretson Chapel of Luverne was in charge of arrangements.
